The GRIFFIN Accelerator is a three-month intensive program run by a group of seasoned Canberra entrepreneurs who invest in, host, teach and mentor startups with real potential. Providing a $25,000 investment, workspace, and mentoring at the end of the program, the cohort present their polished business plans to investors from across the country. CBRIN reached out to Mude to document the GRIFFIN Accelerator process from start to finish, culminating in the esteemed pitch night.
Our challenge was to capture the immeasurable value that the GRIFFEN Accelerator program gives to Canberrean entrepreneurs. Our video had to captivate budding entrepreneurs and grow the program’s reputation as a core driver of Canberra business innovation.
Across three months, we filmed the countless workshops, mentorship meetings, and strategy sessions provided to the select group of startup founders. From that footage, a natural story of professional and personal growth emerged – and we grabbed onto it tightly.
Our choice of shots set a clear narrative with a focus on the professional development – a mentor and a mentee finding solutions, group discussions and brainstorming, frantic notes taken during a professional presentation. On this project, we chose to film scriptless – instead, we asked open-ended questions to all involved, from the owners of Accelerator to investors, and of course, the startup founders themselves.
Because of this, we caught valuable, natural answers that would engage an audience through their relatability, instead of a forced testimonial. To match the innovation of the businesses involved, we paired the edit with a quirky, slightly experimental electronic beat from our expansive music library, created by our in house music producer.
The final result came in two parts – a shorter, more digestible wrap up of the program, and a five minute documentary style piece, diving deeper into the stories and professional journies. By curating a strong sense of motivation and challenge, we told the story of how GRIFFEN Accelerator gave these founders the boost needed to get their products and services onto the market.
